Born and raised in Los Angeles California, Vanessa got her start on the small screen at only eight years old when she was an extra on the TV show "My Two Dads" which stared her father Greg Evigan. Vanessa knew then she wanted to be an actress but it wasn't until she was 11 that her parents allowed her to get into the business. Her mother Pam Evigan who was a dancer on Broadway and her father Greg Evigan, had strong feelings about her getting into the business too young. Vanessa is the oldest of three children. Her brother Jason Evigan who is the singer of the band After Midnight Project and sister actress Briana Evigan who will be starring in the upcoming movie Step Up 2 The Streets. At the age of twelve, Vanessa got her first job guest starring on the TV show "Jacks Place," in which she was nominated for best actress in a guest star role at the Young Artist Awards. Shortly after landing the role of Jenny Clemens on the critically acclaimed NBC series "Against The Grain" which also starred Ben Affleck. At fifteen, Vanessa was cast as Sara Valentine on UPNs TV series "Social Studies." She then went on to doing a recurring role as Brittany Hodges on “The Young and the Restless.” Vanessa has guest-starred on many shows such as “Boy Meets World”, “The Tom Arnold Show”, “Norm”, “Less Than Perfect”, “Emily’s Reason Why Not”, and “How I Met Your Mother”. She has also starred in several independent movies and made for TV movies as well. This holiday season she will be co-staring in the ABC Family MOW “Holiday In Handcuffs.” Along with acting, Vanessa’s other two passions in life are singing and finding a cure for muscular dystrophy. After losing a friend to MD in high school she has become very passionate about raising awareness to a younger generation and helping to find a cure. Vanessa has been involved with the muscular dystrophy association for the last three years and started a benefit two years ago called “Night Of Spirits.”

Raised in a town so small it lacked a stop light, there was little for Anna Shinoda to do except climb trees, go on hikes and read books. Reading books led to writing books, and by the fourth grade, Anna had her first book bound through the Young Authors program. In middle school and high school, she concentrated her writing skills on reporting the news to her schoolmates as the editor for her high school paper. Upon graduation, she was awarded several scholarships on the merit of her writing and pursued a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies at Long Beach State. Anna worked in music Public Relations for several years after college and eventually discovered a love of writing for children.

Determined to continually develop her writing skills, Anna has taken many classes through UCLA Extension and as a member of SCBWI has attended several Conferences.

Completed manuscripts for editorial consideration include two nominations for the Sue Alexander Most Promising New Work Award: a chapter book nominated in 2004, and a young adult novel nominated in 2006.

Her first young adult novel, published by Atheneum Books for Young Readers, is scheduled for release in Spring 2011.

Anna writes to promote healing in children, whether it is taming a fear of the dark, confronting the unknown, discovering how to make new friends, or facing a difficult truth.

Anna married musician Mike Shinoda in 2003, and she has no shortage of kids to be inspired by, thanks to her son and nieces and nephews. Adventures in Asia, Brazil, Australia, Europe, and throughout the United States inspire her stories, as do her pet dogs and animals in her backyard. Mixing her experiences as an adult with her memories of her own childhood, Anna Shinoda has many stories to tell.
